Coming from the East Coast means big mountains, big time zones, and a few extra logistics. The good news: CMH runs a tight operation—and CMH Mid-Atlantic helps you get the details right so you arrive calm, prepared, and ready to ski.

Heli-skiing is a premium, remote travel experience—so the admin matters. Every guest will need to complete key booking items (including signing CMH’s Waiver and Release Agreement), and it’s smart to get clear on timelines for deposit, final payment, and what cancellation / replacement options look like. We’ll walk you through what applies to your specific trip and make sure nothing gets missed in the lead-up.
Explore Heli-Ski Lodges Ask Barb for AdviceMost East Coast travellers do best by planning a buffer night on the front end (and often on the back end too). Depending on your CMH destination, transportation is typically organized to/from Calgary (YYC) or Kelowna (YLW)—and because connections, winter weather, and time-zone shifts can stack up, a simple itinerary with breathing room usually wins. If you want to extend the trip, we’ll help you think through pre- or post-trip lodging so your travel day doesn’t eat your energy.

The best trips start before you ever step into a helicopter. CMH days can run multiple days in a row, and you’ll have more fun if your legs and cardio can handle consistent effort—plus breaks—without your body tapping out early. On the snow side, heli-skiing can include variable conditions (tracked, crusted, heavy, deep, flat light), and being comfortable adjusting your pace is part of the experience. If you’re coming from the East Coast, your local resort days are the perfect place to train: ski mixed conditions intentionally, practice tree lines, and build endurance runs.
See the Variety of Heli Ski Trips Ask Barb for AdviceCMH takes safety seriously, and your trip begins with training. Guests receive snow safety training on arrival (including transceiver use and helicopter safety), and CMH provides a safety pack that includes an avalanche transceiver, radio, shovel, and probe. For consistency and safety, CMH asks guests not to bring their own transceiver—you’ll be issued what the operation uses. Also: drones aren’t permitted (they’re a safety hazard to aircraft), so plan for phone/handheld/helmet-cam content instead.

If you want great trip media, set yourself up before you leave: spare batteries, glove-friendly setups, and a simple plan (quick lodge moments, one or two “run reveal” clips, a group shot at pickup). During the trip, we’ll remind you what’s easiest to capture without slowing the group down. Afterward, share your best photos/videos with CMH Mid-Atlantic—tag us on social, DM us highlights, or upload to our shared drive (work in progress!)—so we can feature your trip and help inspire more East Coast skiers to make the leap.
Upload Your Shots HereCMH Mid-Atlantic is a family-owned business that works 24/7. Why?
