What we doHELI-SKIING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA WITH CMH

CMH pioneered heli-skiing in the 1960s, and British Columbia remains the benchmark for deep snow, big terrain, and consistently unforgettable days in the mountains. A typical week is simple in concept and extraordinary in practice: wake up in a comfortable lodge, meet your group, and fly to untracked lines that range from wide alpine faces to protected tree runs—then repeat, building confidence and rhythm as the week unfolds. CMH Mid-Atlantic’s role is to make that experience feel accessible from the East Coast. We help you choose the right lodge and program for your ability and goals, then translate the logistics—travel days, transfers, gear planning, and what to expect on arrival—into a clear, stress-free plan.

WHERE YOU’LL STAY WHILE HELI-SKIING

Our lodgesWHERE YOU’LL STAY WHILE HELI-SKIING

CMH lodges are spread across British Columbia’s Columbia Mountains, with options that range from remote, fly-in backcountry properties to road-accessible lodges and in-town stays. Wherever you base, the essentials are consistent: welcoming hospitality, comfortable rooms, chef-prepared meals, and recovery amenities such as hot tubs and saunas that help you stay strong for consecutive days. The real differences come down to terrain personality, pace, access, and lodge vibe—quiet and intimate versus lively and social, alpine-forward versus tree-focused, day-program convenience versus full immersion. As East Coast specialists, CMH Mid-Atlantic helps you compare those trade-offs quickly and choose the lodge that fits your group’s skiing goals and travel preferences.

Our programsFIND YOUR PERFECT HELI-SKI FORMAT

CMH offers several ways to heli-ski, and the best choice depends on how you like to move through the day. Signature Trips deliver the classic experience, while Small Group trips (typically 4-5 guests plus a guide) offer a faster pace and extra flexibility. Powder Intro is designed to build confidence for first-timers, and Powder Masters adds additional guide support for a more relaxed, coaching-forward week. If your group wants complete control, Private & Exclusive delivers a fully customized format. And if you’re short on time, a Day Heli-Skiing option at CMH Purcell can be the perfect “first step” or add-on. CMH Mid-Atlantic helps East Coast guests match program type to ability, fitness, and objectives—so you spend the week skiing the right terrain at the right pace.

Trip logisticsWE PLAN IT ONCE, YOU SKI IN PEACE

Most heli-ski weeks begin with travel into Calgary (YYC) or Kelowna (YLW), followed by CMH-arranged transfers (or self-drive for select destinations) to your lodge or base. On arrival, you’ll complete a welcome briefing and helicopter/avalanche safety training, including transceiver practice, so everyone is aligned on process and expectations before the first ski day. CMH provides standardized safety equipment in a guest pack—typically a transceiver, radio, shovel, and probe—so you’re ready to go from day one. For East Coast travelers, the key is sequencing: smart flight timing, the right arrival window, and a packing plan that supports cold-weather performance. CMH Mid-Atlantic walks you through those details and sets realistic fitness and pacing expectations, so your focus stays on skiing—not on figuring out logistics mid-trip.

FAQQUICK ANSWERS FOR YOUR BURNING QUESTIONS

If you’re new to heli-skiing, a few fundamentals make the decision easier. Ability and fitness matter most: you’ll get the most out of the week if you can ski or ride powder with control and sustain multiple consecutive days. Safety is built in: you’ll train on arrival, and CMH supplies the standardized safety pack you’ll use in the field. Travel is straightforward for East Coast guests—most trips meet in Calgary or Kelowna before transferring to the lodge—and comfort levels are high, with welcoming accommodations and strong meals, though cell service can be limited in remote areas. The full FAQ covers what’s included, packing, groupings, and gear options. If you’re unsure where you fit, CMH Mid-Atlantic can talk through ability, rentals, and simple preparation tips so you arrive confident.
